Most of you have likely finished the Version 3.4 story by now. As expected, the plot involving Aventurine and the other members of the Goldbloods delivered plenty of emotional punches. Meanwhile, the storylines for March 7th and Xilian have started to build up, as they are key focuses in future updates. However, what caught the community off guard was the unexpected controversy surrounding Xilian’s character model.
In the new 3.4 story, the devs began laying the groundwork for Xilian’s debut. Based on current predictions, she’s likely to be added to the gacha pool in Version 3.7. But some players feel that her current model doesn’t match expectations, leading to mixed reactions.
Some players have pointed out that, when comparing the current model to others, Xilian’s visual quality feels similar to that of a 4-star character like March 7th. If this is her final form, it feels somewhat underwhelming—especially considering that Xilian’s design has ties to a certain major character in the lore. Many fans are hoping that HoYoverse will polish or upgrade her look before her official release.
But fear not, Trailblazers! It’s very likely that what we’ve seen is just her NPC model and that she’ll debut with an enhanced second form. There are three major clues to support this theory:
Clue 1: Multiple models exist for some characters.
Take Sunday as an example—his in-story appearance differed quite a lot from his playable version. This suggests that Xilian might also receive a completely new model when added to the gacha.
Clue 2: Official artwork hints at a second form.
In one of the officially released illustrations, Xilian’s face looks noticeably different from the NPC version—more gentle and mature. This could very well be a glimpse of her second form.
Clue 3: Over-the-top visual effects.
As the final key character of the Pharos Phase storyline, her effects are expected to be nothing short of spectacular. Just look at how visually striking characters like Sparkle and Aventurine’s second form are. Considering Xilian’s implied connection to “that woman,” it’s almost unthinkable for her to be released with a basic NPC model only.
Also worth noting—leakers have hinted that Xilian will have a very elaborate promotional campaign with multiple forms. Given the level of hype and attention she’s getting, a basic NPC model clearly wouldn’t cut it. So it's highly likely that a new and more impressive form is in development.
For now, stay patient and keep your expectations high! As soon as there’s more official news, we’ll share it with you right away.
