With the release of version 5.7, Sigewinne is now on the rate-up banner, and many Travelers have likely already pulled for her. As the game has gone through many versions, the arrangement of characters and weapons in banners has always been a hot topic. Today, let’s take a look at some of the most absurd and discouraging weapon banners in Genshin Impact history that have made players think twice before pulling!
First up: Version 2.4 (Second Half) Weapon Banner
The featured weapons were: Amos’ Bow and Vortex Vanquisher. The featured 5-star characters were Ganyu and Zhongli—arguably one of the strongest main DPS and best shield support units.
While the character banner was undeniably strong, the weapon banner was a different story. Both featured weapons had extremely low versatility, with much better 4-star or F2P alternatives available. For most F2P or low-spending players, pulling on this banner was definitely not worth it. Anyone who dared to pull here was truly bold.
Next: Version 3.0 (Second Half) Weapon Banner
The featured weapons were: Amos’ Bow and Everlasting Moonglow. While Amos’ Bow fits Ganyu perfectly, Everlasting Moonglow—Kokomi’s signature weapon—has very low general utility.
This combo banner had both weapons being highly niche, making it one of the least appealing banners. Did anyone actually pull on this?
Then: Version 3.6 (Second Half) Weapon Banner
Once again featuring Amos’ Bow, this time paired with Jadefall’s Splendor, Baizhu’s signature weapon. If Everlasting Moonglow was already toxic, Jadefall’s Splendor was just as bad, if not worse.
Back when Baizhu’s weapon first dropped, many players jokingly called it "Evergreen Moonglow", a mashup of two of the most situational weapons in the game. Safe to say, the weapon banner was considered near-unpullable for most.
Now let’s talk about: Version 3.8 (First Half) Weapon Banner
This one looked flashy but was full of traps. With the reruns of fan-favorite characters Eula and Klee, their respective signature weapons Song of Broken Pines and Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds also returned.
Song of Broken Pines is a physical damage claymore with very limited character compatibility.
Lost Prayer can be obtained from the standard banner, making it a less desirable 5-star.
Pulling this weapon banner was mostly for die-hard fans, not for value hunters.
In the same patch, 3.8 (Second Half) brought back Tulaytullah’s Remembrance and Everlasting Moonglow, another clearly "toxic" pairing.
Then came Version 4.6 (Second Half)
Another disastrous combo: Tulaytullah’s Remembrance + Jadefall’s Splendor—a pairing that once again scared off many players.
Most recently: Version 5.5 (First Half) Weapon Banner
This featured Verdant Heart (Valeria’s weapon) and Crane’s Echoing Call (Xianyun’s weapon). Both weapons focus heavily on plunge attack scaling, which currently only a handful of characters actually use effectively.
Due to the very low general applicability, this banner didn’t attract many pulls, except from a small niche group of players.
Summary
Some weapons in Genshin Impact are incredibly versatile, offering huge boosts across multiple characters. However, others like Amos’ Bow, Everlasting Moonglow, and Jadefall’s Splendor are extremely niche, with limited value outside of one or two units.
When two “toxic” weapons appear together in one banner, it becomes a nightmare for players looking for value. Pulling on such banners? Only the bravest and most hardcore Travelers would dare.
